Minnesota is an amazing sight to see from thousands of feet above the ground, just ask any of our satisfied customers and they will tell you that the sunrise above the mountains is a once in a lifetime sight that cannot compare to anything else. But, although our balloon rides are the best way to see Minnesota from the sky, there are many things about The North Star State that few people know unless you are from here or have been here several times. We are here to educate our clients about our wonderful area so that you, too, can appreciate stunning Minnesota like we do.
The calm and quiet above the clouds is an incredible thing to experience, but did you know Minnesota is home to the World’s Quietest Place? Orfield Laboratories in South Minneapolis is the building housing an anechoic chamber, the quietest room on Earth. It is said that only a handful of people who participate in sitting in the room alone can last around 30 minutes before beginning to hallucinate or even hear their own internal organs working! This is something every science fanatic needs to try out atleast once in their life, just don’t go crazy.
One amazingly scenic location to go to is Devil’s Kettle. The mystery that surrounds it’s waterfall has still not been solved. When visiting take a look at how half of the falls goes straight into the Brule River while the other half drops into a basin and disappears! Rumor has it that this feeds into an underground river that makes its way to Lake Superior, but there is no conclusive evidence of this fact. Let us know if you can figure this one out as no one in the world has.
Let’s be honest, you wouldn’t visit a place you had never been to before without buying a few souvenirs! While you will have the pictures of the breathtaking balloon ride to show your friends at home, we also recommend taking a trip to the Mall of America. With 4.3 miles of store fronts there has been little to nothing else we have not been able to find there. But, if you have children with you, make sure to take them along. Not only are there amusement parks, roller coasters and a lego land there are also pools where you can pet stingrays and even live trees and other plants! Believe us when we say you must come here atleast once in your visit time!
If you truly want to witness the most beautiful places in Minnesota take a flight over some of her famous landmarks. While we cannot fly you in the middle of buildings we can take you close enough to see a couple of her most stunning sights. The stone Arch Bridge is often visible in the distance along with the gorgeous Minneapolis skyline, but we will say to see it up close is also a personal favorite of ours. This is the largest bridge in the city and has been deemed a historical landmark since its erection in 1883. Another amazing sight to behold above one of our balloons is Eagle Mountain. This is the tallest peak in the entire state, topping off at 2,301 feet above sea level. Surrounded by dense Minnesota wilderness, other than on one of our hot air balloons, this is the best vantage point to see the state.
BECAUSE TRAVELLING IN A HOT AIR BALLOON IS SO DIFFERENT FROM OTHER OPTIONS OF FLIGHT TODAY, IT WILL DIFFER FROM EVERY OTHER EXPERIENCE YOU CAN HAVE IN THE SKY.
Balloon rides happen in the morning and late evening. At these times it won't be overly hot outside and the landscape will be that much more incredible. For the night owls in the world, the flights at sunset usually occur two or three hours before sundown.
BY TRAVELING ALONG WITH THE BREEZE, THERE WON'T BE ANY BREEZE TO FEEL, MAKING THE JOURNEY VERY PEACEFUL.
As soon as you are flying you will find yourself anywhere around 500 and 3,000 feet above the ground. Weather permitting, a hot air balloon can fly all the way up to 10,000 feet. Given that you find yourself in a balloon, this trip doesn't truly have a certain destination. Typically your balloon will wind up journeying anywhere between 2 and 5 miles over the course of roughly an hour.
We only offer the best for you, so you don't have to worry about a thing. Our captains are specialists, guaranteed. Every certified pilot with Minnesota Balloon Rides is a professional certified by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The very first account of man reaching the sky was in a balloon. From the first trip in the 1700's, hot air balloons have stood the test of time.
Much has changed in the past centuries, but hot air balloons remain pretty simple. Containing hot air by gas burners, the balloon just above you is a bigger-than-life sight to behold.
Just like there are all types of justifications for hot air ballooning, the balloons come in all sizes and shapes. Hot air balloons are pretty flexible too, having the ability to transport up to 16 people in one flight. Numbers of 4, 8, 10, and 12 people are the most common though.
As the balloons themselves are lifted using hot air, it's good to know how that operates. You're able to have such a stunning view due to the fact that hot air is not as dense as cool air. Filling up a balloon with hot air hoists it right up over the cooler air up into the sky. Thanks to this you can literally hover on air.READ MORE
